It has been proven that children benefit and become more productive mentally with certain types of stimulants this is why it is important to keep this in mind when planning the decoration of your child’s room. As well as what the child will enjoy you have to take into consideration what you need to do to the room to make it child proof, you have to be sure that they will be safe when unsupervised. Below are some ways you can decorate your room to be sure it will make them be most productive:
- Primary colours – these kinds of colours have proven to stimulate children’s brains from a very young age. You don’t necessarily have to paint the entire room bright red but you could for example have the accessories in the room in the primary colours instead.
- Textures – you don’t have to just paint the walls you could stick different types of materials on the walls to create a theme for example if you wanted to create a garden them you could stick different colour felt flowers on the wall, or voile for fairy wings etc. this is part of the decorating the child could also help with.
- There are now more products than ever you can buy to help decorate your child’s room some of the best that allow them to express themselves artistically are black board paint its fairly inexpensive and gives them a space on the wall where they can draw instead of drawing on the wall paper etc. you simply put a layer on plain wallpaper and once dry you can draw on it with chalk. You can also get magnetic wallpaper that you could turn into a magnetic game on their wall such as snakes and ladders.
- Storage – you want the storage to be as practical as possible and also match the theme of the room you can even get sets of draws in the shape of a carrot to go with a garden theme. Also to help children tidy up after their selves you can label draws and cupboards along with pictures if the child doesn’t know how to read properly yet.
Here are some tips on creating a safe atmosphere for your children in their room:
- Window guards – these have different varieties you can either get a guard that is screwed in the window frame and prevents the child from being able to get out of the window, similar to a stair guard. You can also get locks for the windows that prevent the child from opening the window at all.
- Plug sockets are one of the biggest worries for parents and you can get different products to prevent your child from being able to tamper with them there are ones that you plug in and an alarm sounds when it is being tampered with, then there are covers you can fit over the plug socket allowing the wire to hang out of the bottom but encasing the actual sockets once fitted you can lock them with a key.
